Our Story

It Started With a Set of Keys.

Before Cabo Ground Services was a company, it was a lesson in what happens when someone trusts you with their day — and you decide to take care of it.

La Paz · 1997

“You can do it.”

Ubiel was working as a concierge in La Paz, selling tours and helping hotel guests figure out what to do with their time in Baja California Sur. One day, an Italian family had booked a tour to Los Cabos. The guide did not show up.

It was the family’s last day. There was no replacement available. Ubiel did not speak Italian, and the family did not speak English or Spanish.

His manager handed him the keys to the hotel Suburban and said, simply, “You can do it.”

So he did.

They communicated with gestures, similarities between languages and a willingness to figure things out together. The tour went well. The family enjoyed its final day. What stayed with Ubiel was not the tip at the end — it was the satisfaction of rescuing a day that could easily have been lost.

That day was not about transportation. It was about taking responsibility for someone else’s experience.
What came next

Learn the destination. Learn the people.

The years that followed were spent guiding tours, driving airport transportation, learning Baja California Sur and understanding the details behind groups, agencies, hotels, site inspections and logistics.

There was no grand business plan hidden in the glove compartment. There was simply a growing understanding that good service meant more than getting from one place to another.

It meant noticing. Preparing. Solving. And knowing when something did not make sense.

APRIL 2004

CGS begins

Cabo Ground Services is born with its first vehicle and a simple ambition: take better care of the people being transported.

The part that never changed

A vehicle is part of the service. Attention is the service.

As CGS grew, the vehicles changed, the hotels changed and technology changed. The basic idea did not.

Pay attention

A flight number, airport, pickup time or luggage count is not just data. Sometimes one detail changes the entire plan.

Take responsibility

If something looks wrong, ask. If something changes, respond. Do not hide behind the reservation form.

Remember the person

Premium service is not about showing off. It is about making people feel confident that someone is paying attention.

Then and now

The tools got better. The philosophy stayed human.

Today CGS uses technology to collect trip information, organize services and support the operation. But technology is not asked to replace judgment.

Technology collects the information. A real person makes sure it makes sense.

That is why reservations are reviewed before confirmation. It is why the team pays attention to airports, flights, passengers, luggage, properties and timing instead of assuming every form submission must be correct.

We automate convenience — not attention.
Twenty-plus years later

“I got a guy in Cabo.”

Over the years, some customers began recommending CGS to friends and family with a phrase that meant more to us than any advertisement could:

“I got a guy in Cabo. Call him.”

Because that does not really mean knowing a transportation company. It means knowing someone you trust.

Many of those relationships have lasted for years. Families returned. Children grew up. Friends called because another friend had told them who to call.

That is the company we still want to be.

Cabo Ground Services

Different vehicles. Different trips. Same responsibility.

Whether we are meeting you at the airport, taking your family to dinner or helping connect the pieces of a day in Cabo, the goal is simple: take good care of the people who trusted us with their trip.
